Top Golf

We want to expose our kids to as many sports as possible.  I would love to see them make golf their sport to focus on (instead of tackle football).  Mark's dad played golf on scholarship in college and Mark really loves to play golf.  He would play it more if he didn't have the back injury that keeps him from it.  This summer the boys went to a golf camp at Cypress Lakes Country Club.  It was a week filled with golf lessons from a golf pro designed for youth.

So as a celebration to the end of summer and golf lessons, Mark and I took Keaton and Cort to Top Golf for a family outing.



 

I know it is not a good picture because of the light, but they are ready to go!

This gives you a good view of Top golf.  You aim for the targets when playing the games.  The targets further away are worth more points.  Or you can just practice hitting the ball.

Say what?  You didn't know I played golf?

Well, I don't, but I do like Top Golf.  It really is fun.

Although I feel more graceful swinging the club than I look apparently. 

And now Mark will show us how it is done.

It was a nice day at the driving range.

We made some memories.

And even had some donut holes with chocolate or raspberry filling you injected yourself.

After a few hours of golf, we had lunch at BWW's and played a little trivia poker.
Keaton has also become quite the little poker player.

After lunch, Mark went back to work.  I took the boys back-to-school shopping for clothes, shoes, and backpacks.

 

Summer of Kerrie

I am the middle child of three girls.  Kerrie is my older sister and Casey is my younger sister.  Kerrie has worked the night shift for years as a labor and delivery RN and recently decided to change jobs.  She planned on taking the summer off to relax, but then I offered her the opportunity to spend the summer with her nephews.  Instead of putting Keaton and Cort in a daycare program, they could spend the summer looking for adventures with Aunt Kerrie.  You know, before they are too cool to hang out with their Aunt.  

 

They begged to go the library, but it wasn't long before we discovered it was because they wanted to play minecraft on the computer.

They visited Cosmic Jump a couple of times.

It is a trampoline place although a little different than Sky High.

Gage continued in his same routine at Children's Courtyard but did get a few outings with Aunt Kerrie too. 

While the older boys were at VBS, Gage and Kerrie went to Monkey Joe's.

 

This is one of Kerrie's two dogs who also spent the summer with us.  Lady was very happy to not only have other dogs here, but people at our house all day.  Now that summer is over, she hasn't adjusted well to everyone going back to school and Dixie being gone.

We celebrated Kerrie's birthday at ShoGuns Hibachi grill.  Gage didn't like the experience that much.  He was scared of the fire!  Notice Jacob joined us!!!

Because they spent almost every day at the pool, Cort even turned into a duck!

During the Summer of Kerrie, they made a trip to Gilmer to spend a few days with Gee and Papa Dan.  It was hard, but I let them go.  Mark was in Alaska (future post to come) and that just left Gage and me at home for a few quiet days.

They visited the Tyler zoo.

The Tyler zoo is the zoo I grew up going to.  I can remember several school field trips to the zoo.

It was a hot summer, so they cooled off in the hot tub.....or cool tub with Gee.

They also visited an orchard in Pittsburgh, Tx.

They have a lot of cute displays of old farm equipment.

And they brought back fresh black eyed peas and cream peas. 
YUM!

Ok, so that running with a kite wasn't working......

therefore they invented Cart-Kiting.

But let's don't take it to the next level of Cart Para-Sailing!

Papa Dan took them fishing at the neighbor's pond.

Good memories being made in Gilmer.
