Summer Camp

Now that Keaton had completed third grade, he is considered a pre-teen.  Can you believe it?  This was the first year he could go to overnight camp with our church.  It is for 3rd -5th graders.  I loved going to camp as a kid and always had such wonderful experiences.  I know camp can be a huge stepping stone in growing in your faith.  And what a great opportunity at such a young age to attend his first camp.

Pineywood Baptist Camp or BUST!

They left Sunday and came home Wednesday.  That helped this mommy since it was only three nights.  I got a little sad Sunday night and Keaton was a little homesick himself, but overall he had an awesome time.  His favorite things to do at camp were swimming and canoing.

Since then, Keaton was asked by Pastor Ken to be on the pre-teen ministry, Live Out Loud (LOL).  This team of 4th and 5th graders lead worship time on Sunday mornings, and is on a rotation for greeters and prayer warriors. 

Also this summer Keaton and Cort attended summer day camp at Family Of Faith Luteran church instead of attending daycare.  Even though it was a little more expensive, we decided we wanted a Christian environment for them.  I was worried they would complain daily because it was a small number of kids, and they did not go on any field trips.  On top of that, Kevin and Louis went to daycare and they went on 1-2 field trips every week.  But they totally surprised me and both loved their camp.  There were some weeks they only went 2-3 days a week because they attended VBS at our church and another church Nana picked for them, in addition to Nana wanting to spend some time with them, and us traveling out of town.  Keaton and Cort asked to go to camp more because they didn't want to miss anything.  Since camp has been over they have talked about it often and look forward to going back next summer.  At the end of the summer they put on a program they had been working on for several weeks.  It was super cute and Keaton and Cort looked like they were have so much fun.  One skit they did was Pete the Cat and his White Shoes.  (Pete has become a big part of our lives now.  More on that story in a later post about Gage)
