Memorial Day Family Reunion

We had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend at the creek. It was also the 3rd annual Roberson Reunion. Here are some pictures of our adventures. The kids had a great time with their cousins.

Here is a picture of the beach. It is slowly recovering from Hurricane Ike. You can find a nice spot as we did this day, but a large portion of the beach is still torn up with the granite foundation cracked.

We also took the kids on a boat ride. For anyone who has not been to the Creek in Sargent, Tx, this is a nice picture of what the creek looks like.

And you know there is always fishing. The Roberson men had a fishing tournament Saturday while the kids and women made a craft project and played in the pool.

Mommy, look what we got!

They found this poor froggie. The had fun playing with him for a while, but then I rescued the frog and let him go. He was very thankful.

It all started with a little puddle stomping, and then progressed. They didn't even seem to mind that it was chilly outside and they still had their pajamas on.

Now on to puddle sliding.

You can't really see the puddle in this top picture, but you can see it behind Keaton in this picture below. Just a small little puddle that entertained them for 45 minutes.

Then we showered them down and wrapped them in warm towels straight from the dryer. What fun. Maybe Dixie also taught them how to wallow in the water.

Dog Gone Dixie Belle

This is what our Dixie Dog looks like right now. A few weeks back when we had all the rain and flooding she wallowed in the water just a little too much. She loves to be outside and she loves water. If there is any kind of puddle she will dunk herself in it face first and wallow in it like she is a pig. She even taught Lady how to do this. Once she is wet and muddy, I am the mean mommy that won't let her back in the house for a few days, or until we can manage a bath!

Well, this time her skin became irritated and she began to chew at it. She was in bad shape when we took her into the vet. They had to shave her hind quarters and put this cone on her head. She is on steroids, anitbiotics, and now a thyroid medicine. Apparantely the thyroid problem can cause skin problems. She is looking a lot better and I am anxious for the hair to grow back in so we can take her to the groomers and get a summer cut. That will also help her skin to breathe more.

AWANA

Today is Wednesday, but no AWANA tonight. That's because we have finished the year. Keaton was a 1st year SPARK, Cort was a 1st year CUBBIE, and I was a CUBBIE leader in Cort's room. I am so proud of both the boys for finishing their books and receiving their awards. They worked really hard! Keaton also completed one year as a CUBBIE when I was the CUBBIE Secretary. I went back to work in October of Keaton's 2nd year as a CUBBIE and felt we needed to drop an activity until we all adjusted to mommy working. Therfore, he didn't get to complete his 2nd year as a CUBBIE.

The purpose of AWANA is to reach kids with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train them in service to Him. In AWANA, kids are challenged to memorize Bible verses while they learn important truths about God. The acronym AWANA comes from Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. 2 Timothy 2:15.
