Fall Sports

We finished another season of sports.  It was a rough one, but it is about learning to play the game, good sportsmanship, giving it your all, not quitting, and having fun with your friends.  

Cort played soccer on Coach Howard's team with Louis while Keaton and Kevin chose baseball.

Season stats:  1-4-2
Yep, we won 1, tied 2, and lost 4. 
It is hard to see your little guys lose, but they kept their spirits up.

Of course its my blog so I have to brag.  Cort scored the only goal of the season.  And it was awesome!  He looked like a professional with a side kick from the ground.



All we ask of our kids is that they try their best.

 Mark took the boys to the batting cages several times so Keaton could get used to the machine.  We are really proud of how much he progressed and how well he could hit the ball.

Keaton was excited to play catcher.  This was the first year they were required to wear a cup.  Eight year old boys thinks this is very funny and like to tell everyone.

There were only enough kids signed up at the YMCA this season for 2 machine pitch teams.  This means we played the same team every week. 
Season stats:  1-5-1
Our guys gave it their all, but the other team was tough.  We tied the first game, but struggled the remaining games.  The last game was against the parents and the kids smoked us!!!

Regardless of the score, our boys played hard and had some great hits.

If you want to drink your water with out sharing, don't let Gage see it.  He loves to play with the bottle and usually ends up poring it all over himself.

12 Years

This month Mark and I celebrated 12 years of marriage and have been together 17 years.  I still claim the entire 17 years although there was a small 'break' right after college.  This time away from each other was time to find ourselves and confirm that we were meant to be together (or time for Mark to realize he was about to lose the best thing that ever happened to him!)

The years gone by:

1999--Our reception was held at Wyndhaven Terrace and we honeymooned in Jamaica the following week.  We rented a house on Pine Lake Drive near I-10.  I was an Accounting Supervisor for Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Mark was in telecom sales for Adelphia (previously known as Hyperion).  We got our first dog, Dixie, for Christmas.

2000--We vacationed in Puerto Rico with Top Sales Achievers from Adelphia.  It was like a second honeymoon.  Y2K never happened.

2001--Mark left Adelphia and went to work for Logix.  We bought a house in Copperfield in August. 

2002--We became the owners of a second dog, Lady.  She was our neighbor's 1 year old dog and they didn't want her anymore.  She has been a great dog.  We vacationed in Arkansas on Lake Ouachita with friends on a house boat.  Later that year I became pregnant with our first child.

2003--Keaton Edward Roberson was born May 31.   Mark left Logix and went to work for TexLink in November and I resigned my position at Enterprise to be a stay-at-home mom after 7 years with the company.

2004--We went on a Carnival cruise with friends to Cozumel, Progresso, and Belize and brought back a little souvenir we would welcome to the family the next year.  I accepted a contract assignment with AIG-American General for 6 months.  Keaton had emergency surgery for a septic hip.  Mark's parents bought a house in Sargent, Texas on Caney Creek at the end of the year. 

2005--Cort Garner Roberson was born January 28.  I began working from home in July for Fox Packaging & Display as their bookkeeper.  Mark started at Xspedius.

2006--Mark left the telecom industry and accepted a position with LPB in the energy industry in December.

2007--We vacationed in Disney world with Mark's family.  My time working part time at home came to an end.  Fox was bought and I accepted a full time Controller position with Corrugated Concepts & Packaging.  Keaton and Cort started daycare. 

2008--Mark started his own energy consulting firm, Strategic Utility Management, SUM.  Keaton started Kindergarten at Copeland Elementary.  Cort attended preschool at Children's Courtyard.

2009--We found out we would welcome a third child into our family. 

2010--Gage Reeves Roberson was born March 22.  Cort started Kindergarten and Keaton was in 2nd grade.  We made the move to Lowery Elementary due to re-zoning in Cy-Fair ISD.

A Day in the Life 2011

I am still working full time for CCP while Mark runs SUM out of our house.  I try to get up each morning at 5:00 and run 2 miles before getting ready for work.  Mark has been getting up at 6:00 and walk/running 2 miles also.  On weekends we usually try to get in 4 miles each day since we have more time.  After I get ready, I drop Gage off at daycare on my way to work.  Mark gets K & C up, feeds them breakfast, gets them ready, and takes them to school.  At 3:00 he picks them up and they come home to work on homework, eat a snack and relax while Mark finishes his day.  We pulled the older boys out of daycare in January to save money but also because we were seeing some behaviors we wanted to change, mostly with Keaton. 

Keaton is playing baseball.  He played coach pitch in the spring and is now playing machine pitch still at the YMCA.  Cort is playing soccer.  He played T-Ball in the spring, but wanted to play soccer this fall on Coach Howard's team.  He will probably play coach pitch in the spring with the same team.  They have been together for 3 seasons now.  Both boys are in AWANA which now meets on Sunday nights.  I am the Cubbie/Puggle Secretary this year.  Gage will be a Puggle next year, but for now is just in childcare.  We still have small group on Thursday nights. 

And here we are 12 years, 2 dogs, a house, and 3 kids later.

Milk allergy free

The last few years we have seen some improvement in Keaton's food allergies.  We have him tested every year usually right before school starts.  They do a skin scratch test and if the results warrant then we also do a blood test.  This year the reaction for milk and egg were minimal and the doctor called it no reaction.  So we set up an appointment to challenge the milk allergy with food. 

He had to bring his own milk and I assumed he would drink the entire bottle throughout the appointment, but he actually only had to drink a small amount.  They started off touching it to his lips, then he drank 1/4 teaspoon, then 1/2 teaspoon, then a full teaspoon.  Over the course of time they watched for any signs of reaction and there were none.  He passed!!! 

This means he has been declared milk allergy free.  We were given the green light to introduce milk products into his diet.  And although he may be allergy free now, there was still the possibility of digestive problems or he could be lactose intolerant.

He couldn't wait to celebrate with pizza.  That very night we had his best friend, Kevin, over and ordered in pizza.  His favorite is hamburger.

It is exciting for him to try new things.  He had cheese on his sandwich at school, has tried real chocolate milk (and says soy milk is better), tried several different types of yogurt (and likes watermelon go-gurt the best), and, of course, ice cream!  So far, no problems.  I am so proud of his willingness to try new things. 

We did say we would take him to Blue Bell for a tour, but they are only open during the week.  We may have to wait until Spring Break.  Next, we will challenge egg.   I don't think he will eat eggs on a regular basis, but if he passes, he will be able to get the flu shot this year.

One and a Half

-You still tell us sit or go if you want our attention.

-Your feet are very ticklish.  We can barely make it through This Little Piggy. 

-Therefore I have to cut your toe nails after you are sound asleep. 

-So I also cut your fingernails and hair when you are sleeping.

-You seem to be more of a daddy's boy than Keaton and Cort were.  (Kind of makes mommy sad sometimes.)

-You will point to mommy's bed and say night-night even if you just want up on the bed.

-You can say bless you and your welcome.
-You know most of your body parts.



One night we were getting ready for bed after your bath and you told us 'shhhh' with your finger up to your mouth.

And he tries to be like daddy.  Most of you have never met Leroy the Lobster.  Well, Leroy is what Mark calls his toes.  And believe me, you don't want to get pinched by Leroy.  Leroy is very talented and can pick things up even. One day, Mark was picking up some toy blocks with his toes and Gage tried to pick them up with his toes too.  It was so cute, Gage watching daddy and then trying to do it also. 

You love to drink out of a straw.

Definitely knows NO.

 You are really good at shaking your head no when asked a question.  A teacher at daycare may ask him for a hug or to let them hold him and if he doesn't want to he will look you dead in the eye and shake his head no.

Gage still loves Ms. Salma
Some mornings I have to drop him off in the Infant room until his teacher gets there.  Ms. Salma always has a cracker to distract him that mommy is leaving.  Some mornings he still cries and doesn't want to let go of me, but others he just walks right in.  On the good days he will wave to me and tell me bye-bye.

 Gage also loves to push the buttons on the security pad at the daycare front door.  The first time he wanted to do it I was surprised it started this early.  He will push the buttons and then look at me with his head cocked as if saying, 'did I push the right buttons?'.  (Keaton and Cort used to fight over who got to push the buttons.)

They teach him so many things at daycare including sign language.  The teacher says he is doing so well.  He often at home signs eat, thank you, more, please, and book.  I am sure there are many others they are working on at school.  Please is the one that gets Mark and I.  If he asks for more (ex. another cookie) and we say no he will sign please and look at you.  Neither of us can deny him!!  We are suckers for Gage.
